Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a statement.
Officers state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found many other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials report early analysis indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet aware of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they added.
City officials announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
An important official commented the vandalism made him speechless and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on online, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
